I have a Pixoo64, currently using the fun GitHub - idodov/pixoo64-media-album-art: Displaying the currently playing track’s album cover art on the PIXOO64 but noticed that when this display boots it needs to reach the vendor’s website before it’ll work. This worries me and I was wondering if anyone has tried hacking the firmware?
From the FCC report (https://fccid.io/A8IPIXOO64/Internal-Photos/Internal-Photos-5371125.pdf) this looks like an ESP32 mounted inside the device with a microSD holder.
I’m not sure how the screen interface is managed but wondered if anyone has seen a way to drive this via ESPhome or something similar?

Look in the integration source code. I see a hardwired IP address!!!
WireShark? What’s the chatter back to base? API? What’s on the SD Card?
There’s a remote API used on boot, this could be spoofed but I don’t know of an implementation so far.
Good find. From 2023 so somebody has orobably had a tinker.
Sending your ID, password and authentication token out into the big unknown must have been a great idea at the time, but it has come back to bite them. Cringeworthy.
