In case anyone is interested, I took a stab at turning my calendar setup into a proper Home Assistant integration/card and uploaded the repo to GitHub.
This thread was actually what motivated me to finally package it up, so I’m really grateful to the OP and everyone here for the inspiration. It’s been a fun configuration journey, and hopefully this helps other families.

Anyone recommend some current hardware that doesnt break the bank? Would love 16" size or larger. Tablets all seem to locked down at this size and screen+PC is a bit cumbersome and costly. Open to anything really if the price is manageable.

I have my calendar all setup how I like it. Only thing I need to figure out is the Legend. Currently the Legend is just the default small round dot with name. I want the legend set up just like the one that the OP did, but I do not need the names w/ icon to be clickable to filter the calendar, I prefer that there is no filter at all since my family doesn't need that and its just one more thing to confuse the wife. I just want the pill bubble with the color, the calendar name, and an icon or picture. Can someone tell me how I can achieve this? Much appreciated!
