DIY Wall Dashboard

I wanted a new HA project so bought a 7″ Guition ESP32 touch screen to try making my own wall dashboard - my ‘Home Assistant Liaison’

Had to use AI for the code but I’m super happy with how it’s turning out. I used to use Kiosk with a wall-mounted Samsung Tablet but this has been soooo much nicer to use.

Disclaimer - the content and layout on each page isn’t set in stone so please don’t be triggered that I’m wasting real estate on something that should go elsewhere or the like. I’m just testing what I can do with it.
And yes, a v2 wall mount will be made to enclose the ‘loose’ hardware.

Home Page – Garage status and control, Pi-hole control, work commute time-to-leave based on that day’s suburb, live doorbell camera, HA scenes, social calendar upcoming events, which bin goes out next, as well as nav buttons for climate, aircon, solar/grid, grocery and mealie stuff, lights, and music.

Other linked pages include:

Lights – Dynamic tiles from a HA light group with power, brightness, colour, and temp as applicable for each light.

Music – Paged Plex playlists with playlist art, using Music Assistant for audio / Cast for Video, amp volume and transport controls.

Climate & aircon – Indoor/outdoor temps with week ahead daily forecast and aircon controls.

Solar & grid – Live generation view, plus a detail view for production, grid mix, and weekly stats. (waiting for an eleco to fit my Shelly clamp)

Barcode Scanning – GM67 scanner for groceries with lookup using Open Food Facts. Populates shopping list, use-by date tracking for notifications* and does local price lookup.

ColesWorth – Current prices for select items at our local grocery stores.

System – Proxmox updates, UPS, NAS and Server stats, sensor outages.

Audio – Onboard audio to an external speaker for TTS / notifications.

It goes without saying I’m no UI designer, so as my only input there’ll be plenty wrong. But that’s for another day.

At the end of the day this has been lots of fun to do and atm that’s all that matters.

*we throw a lot of stuff out as it gets forgotten.
