I added my current firmware to the github repo and merged the changes into master: GitHub - dagroe/zigbee-rotary-dimmer-switch: a rotary dimmer switch
Ha anyone ever tested this one:
It says in specifications that the comm protocol is zigbee
Awesome project! Regarding the existing solutions, do I understand it correctly that the Schneider dimmer will not work (at least directly?) with more than one light at the same time? Does anyone know if the SLC SmartOne does?
I guess it works, I don’t have one. For me it wouldn’t fit with my existing switch/outlet program. And I guess it is not available everywhere.
This looks perfect mate! Sorry to join the party this late. Did you ever manage to design a battery powered one? Looking for a long time now to find a wireless rotary switch which will fit in my (round) Hager/Berker covers.
My current design could in theory be powered by battery. Its designed with a swappable back PCB, so the one for 230V main power could be replaced with a battery one. But I am not sure about battery life. The design hasn’t been optimized for battery and I think everyone currently interested is going for the mains powered version.
I just finished the latest design. Feedback is very welcome ![]()
Major changes:
- Single PCB instead of two stacked PCBs
- Added Relay with toggle button for cutting power to bulb/outlet (replace external switch, use to turn off/reset bulb)
- Reverted back to a standard encoder (will require an adapter from 6mm to 4mm shaft)
- Slightly increased the PCB size, but still within 52mm radius
- Added resistors/capacitors for external encoder, so a daughter board for a second encoder would only need the encoder and a connector)
- Fixed various issues with pins etc.
Awesome project!
For those with less skills, there is a product like this out there, the Sunricher Zigbee 4 in 1 Rotary Switch SR-ZG2835 (resold as SLC SmartOne ZB Wall Rotary 4in1 Battery, Namron ZigBee 4 i 1 Vriddimmer, ROBB SMARRT Draadloze Dimmer Zigbee ++).
Thank you for this call-out!
Are there any that are mains-powered though? The ones that you linked, I believe, are all CR2450 (battery) powered.
The Aqara Dimmer Switch H2 EU is a good option.
But this requires a load to be used, correct? So I can use it to dimm a “dumb” bulb or can I also use it to control my philips hue lights without attaching some load?
