Growing my HA world and am adding a number of Zigbee bulbs to replace Tuya controlled wifi bulbs.
Added 5 new bulbs thinking I could bulk append labels associated with how I'm building this out for each of the new bulbs AFTER I had added all the bulbs which require any particular label.
Specifically these bulbs are all for the Master Bedroom [Area = MASTER] and the bulbs need one or more of the following (already created and used) labels:
- MASTER: All
- MASTER: Primary Lights
- MASTER: Lamps
- MASTER: Secondary Lights
I quickly discovered there is no option to add devices or entities to those in a particular label's container from the label management tool...
So, I dug a bit... I found what seems to be possibly the answer to my problem as a part of the "Spook" Integration... Following the documentation to install Spook... First have to install the "Home Assistant Community Store" how do I, that doesn't work, found it...
WARNING IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHICH TYPE OF INSTALL...
Well, I don't know ... Which of the three is it?... Don't know how to figure it out, frustrated and all I was trying to do was bulk overlay some labels to new devices and entities without having to go one by one.
Someone, please: 1) Tell me I'm not crazy that I think this is over complicated and 2) HEEEEELLLLLLPPPPP?!???
Settings > About: Installation method
I think you are taking something that doesn’t need to be complicated and over-complicating it.
Applying labels to 5 devices should take all of 30 seconds.
If you want to label the individual entities if the device: Go to Settings > Devices & Services > Entities tab, filter to that device, and select all the entities to label them all at once.
Thank you.... But even still... I really have to go through all of that to make it work?
And because I'll still claim infancy in the world of HA... How can one effectively suggest a change like the ability to label multiple devices or entities from inside the label container? (Kinda like how one can add a device\entity to an Area from inside the Area Container)?
I'd avoid Spook based off this statement!
So there are 5 devices with 30+ entities.
This is what I was hoping to do but if I filter for MASTER: in area I can't add labels from there it so it seems
I know but... (And also why I have to this point)
Adding labels to every entity in a device seems like an odd thing to want to do.
But if you really want to, you need to filter just on those 5 devices, and clear any other filters (like “area” filters and “label” filters.
Just advice, add whatever you'd like to your system!
You are ALSO Correct about this... Cheers and TY
You're not wrong... I've been trying to pace it and keep things as simple as possible I just was unable to find what @mekaneck so easily identified. I am very very grateful to you both\all.
I'd suggest starting here
