Hey, community, I want to know if every zigbee device that works with neutral, (even those with optional neutral), works as a zigbee router, in order to build the mesh network?
I’ve seen those “Moes” or “Zemismart” Zigbee Smart Switches on ali express, but they don’t have anywhere explicitly something like “This device works as a router”
So, is it correct to assume that they work as a zigbee router?
Note: I plan to build a zigbee mesh network using Home Assistant, SONOFF ZBDongle-P Zigbee 3.0 USB and some Moes or Zemismart Smart Switches
Short answer: No, read this & the post right below it.
Slightly longer answer: It depends on the model, not just the manufacturer.
Aqara make neutral-optional switches. The H2 will switch to router mode if you wire in a neutral, but the Z1 won’t.
I have tried a single neutral optional Moes switch in the past. It was spectacularly crap and always reported as an end device. EDIT: I just read the reddit thread. Safe to assume that Moes powered devices don’t route, judging by the feedback.
TLDR: Research the specific model or just contact the manufacturer support and ask them directly.
