I just migrated most of my devices from Smartthings over to Home Assistant now that xcp-ng will actually work with my husbzb-1 which was the one thing holding me back before. Unfortunately I’ve run into another problem that is a potential deal breaker. Alexa is constantly telling me the device is not responding. When it works, it’s great. It responds faster than Smartthings ever did. But if you don’t use it for a little while it just stops working. For what I can see it’s a known issue of Nabu Casa that a lot of people are having and the devs are currently working on it, but having an elderly mobility impaired mother makes reliable Alexa control essential.
So my real question is, how well does the manual Alexa setup work on Home Assistant OS? Will these same issues appear if I go that route? Is it just as responsive? Are there any other issues that are specific to the manual set up that I should know about? I have no problem doing the work if it works well, and I already have a few domains along with letsencrypt set up for all my services, and a static IP. But if I’m going to run into the same issues or other deal breaking issues I’d rather spend the time moving the devices that my mom uses back to Smarthings until they get done fixing whatever is giving them issues.
