Hi, I’m totally newbie, I’m reading forum for few weeks and I’d like to start play with Home Assistant. As the first project I choose video doorbell. I would like to have tablet with Home Assistant dashboard and connected it with doorbell - nothing special yet. On the tablet I want to have two way audio and option to easy open doors - on the same screen as video. In doors I have electric lock, something like this. On place of doorbell I have cat6a wire. Is there any easy setup and which hardware should I buy how to achieve my requirements? Or will I have to buy video doorbell kit like this. Thank you for any advice and I hope my question isn’t too silly…

Yes. VTO can be SIP server or join SIP server
You can connect tablet to VTO SIP or join tablet and VTO to other SIP.
Dahua VTO and Axis are only units that easily expose events by API and allow SIP and not require some cloud for setup or general use. VTO is recommended because it has built in SIP and use external. Dahua VTH can easily connect to VTO + it may show the other camera you own (I believe Dahua, Amcrest and other Dahua rebranded model)

And can you give me some link where could I learn more about option how to connect tablet to VTO SIP? Is there any video which would show how does it behave? On tablet I have HA dashboard and what happens when someone rings? Does it open Dahua app on tablet, or video is shown in HA dashboard? And if it’s in HA dashboard can I on same screen open electric lock in doors? Or I have to close video stream and than push the button for open doors? And there is any guide how to achieve that?

Thank you for reply. Finally I decided to buy whole set containing indoor and outdoor unit from Dahua, because I want to have working solution from the beginning… and in some time I will maybe replace indoor unit with tablet…
