I have a DoorBird A1061W IP Door Chime which recently stopped working. Power was supplied by a tp-link Omada POE150S PoE injector. Symptoms were that it disappeared from my network. The DHCP server on my MikroTik hAP ax³ showed the status as waiting.
Further testing shows that the Door Chime works when connected to a (non-PoE) cable and the supplied DoorBird 15 VDC power supply (mains adaptor). It doesn’t work when connected to a UniFi USW-Ultra (powered by a U-PoE+±EU injector) with PoE+ on. It does work with the same switch with PoE+ off and the mains adaptor.
Unfortunately, the location of the Door Chime makes it difficult to use anything other than PoE to power it.
My strong suspicion is that the PoE circuit on the Door Chime has failed. I have contacted DoorBird Technical Support. They have told me that it is roughly three months outside the two year warranty and have stated: We can offer you a replacement product/part with a 50% discount on the end-user MSR.
Although I purchased the DoorBird components a couple of years ago they were only installed within the last year. Until it failed, it had only been used with the tp-link Omada POE150S PoE injector. Very disappointing that a premium product like the Door Chime (with a price to match) should fail so soon!
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?
I certainly hadn’t considered that a Door Chime might be a consumable product needing replacement every couple of years or so!
