I have recently installed the Drayton Wiser smart thermostat kit to my 2011 Ideal Logic + Combi 30 boiler via the OpenTherm connection and in Home Assistant I was able to view the boiler flow and return temperatures as show in the images below.
However, on Saturday I disconnected everything and wired up the standard room stat to do a comparison with the OpenTherm connection and then after my tests re-connected the OpenTherm stat but since then the flow and return temps are no longer showing, they just keep reporting Unknown.
Does anyone know why it would be working but then 30 minutes later it would stop working?
I’ve also noticed that the Operating mode will show OTplusCommunicationFailure before showing OTplus, is this something to be concerned about?
Also, could someone confirm whether changing the flow temperature on the boiler will have any affect if it is being controlled by the OpenTherm stat? On the boiler when I change the flow it tells me that the flow temperature is being controlled by the room stat but if I set the flow temperature on the boiler to 60 degrees will the boiler never exceed 60 even if the Drayton is requesting 70? Does the OpenTherm just request a percentage of whatever the flow temperature is set to on the boiler?
When the boiler is running and I look at the attributes of the flow temperature the CH1 flow setpoint changes so am I right in assuming that if the setpoint reads 46 then the flow temperature on the boiler should get set to 46?
Last week I had the flow temperature on the boiler set to max and when the Drayton needed to raise the temperature by 0.1 of a degree, the heating demand was being set at 5% and the flow temperature was not exceeding 46 degrees. Now when the same event occurs the heating demand is still the same but the flow temperature on the boiler just keeps rising to the maximum value. I just don’t understand why it worked and now it doesn’t.
Thanks in advance.
