Hello everyone,
ive been using ESPHome for some time now. but since my latest project everything is breaking more and more. I had my esp8266 connected to some airquality sensors via I2C. everything was fine and i received the values in HA.
Until i powercycled the board. During troubleshooting things got weirder and weirder. I keep getting the message Failed to execute’open’ on the esp home website even tho i have no other Serial capable program or tab open. The only way i found that “fixes” this for me is uninstalling and adding the drivers over and over. A single unplugging and repluging will make the error appear again.
Once i manage to connect and try to upload a basic esphome script, the upload apears to be fine but i then dont get any messages from the board. Both over WLAN or usb. the log stays silent.
the last message i get when im connected via the pi is:
Succesfully uploaded program.
INFO Starting log output from /dev/ttyUSB1 with baud rate 115200
and then silence.
Things that i already tried to fix this:
-different working cable
-different drivers
-different boards that worked for months until 3 days ago
-plugging the esp directly into my pi to flash via USB
-completely uninstalling esphome and deleting the esphome folder in HA
-restarting HA
-trying to flash via ESPFlasher
-trying a different pc
-restarting my router
-updating HA and ESPHome
-doing a fresh ESPHome install
ive been bashing my head the last days and by now completely dismantled my existing board network. If any of you have an idea what could be the issue or maybe even issues id be very thankful. Ofc ill provide any aditional infos needed to get to the bottom of this.
UPDATE!: I got the board working again. Turns out uninstalling ESPHome does not remove the devices on the HA side and that seemed to somehow have killed the communication after flashing. After deleting them in the devicelist there too it worked.
Now i just have to figure out why i keep having to reinstall the drivers in order to flash boards. If someone has an idea on that part pls let me know. Thanks
