DSMR Smart Meter : ‘Slimme meter’ or ‘P1 poort’

Forum Question (in English)

Hi everyone,

I have Home Assistant and want to connect it to the P1 port of my smart electricity meter.
I bought a P1-to-USB cable, and it is immediately recognized on the USB port.

However, when I try to add the DSMR integration, everything freezes.
The integration tries to install, but it just keeps loading forever.

I’ve seen on GitHub that there are also issues with connecting via a P1-USB cable in this way.
My steps:

  • I select my serial device: USB
  • I select type: 5B
  • Then I end up in an endless loop

Has anyone experienced this or found a solution?

Thanks in advance!

strange that nobody uses this usb-p1 cable integration…
i gonna toss it in the bin ( -12€ ) :frowning:

On tweakers.nl I found a couple of people using it…

The problem

I could not add my smart meter as version “5”, even though I am in the Netherlands. I could only add it as 5S and it is working fine now.

The specific meter is an Iskra AM550-TD2 (3 fase CDMA/GPRS), and the provider is Delta (state: Zeeland)

I just wanted to let it know cause it took me hours before I tried the 5S option, so maybe it shouldnt be country devided? And if it should, can we please use 2 or 3 letter country codes? I had to look up which version I should have chosen, while everyone understands country codes.
That makes it also clearer for the Dutch people instead of just 5. My first thoughts where when I saw the other versions with a letter that it was an updated/better version. With country codes, that is immediately clear.

I use a p1 cable, with 10k resister at RXD-RTS, signal inverted.
