I’m at a point with my home assistant where I want to start playing with a custom remote for my media equipment. Not sure I call this automation, but I have all relevant commands thru my Harmony mapped as scripts for each device. Can now use that to automate things or if I prefer this route over using the Harmony skill not sure yet. Holding off on enabling Alexa for my media equipment. That said, still wanted to create a remote if someone wants to use it. But what my thought was, I want it to be native to the environment, not customize in a fashion that some add-on could stop being supported and it break, don’t want to go the node red route as haven’t touched that to date. What I want to do is be able to select an activity or a device, and have the menu below it automatically change. So rather than having a remote on the screen for each of my activities, and a remote on the screen for each of my devices, have it dynamically switch. Would like to do this thru Lovelace. Are there any examples others have done in this fashion? Curious if I have to create separate files and somehow thru Lovelace call them based on what someone selects? Also would be nice if it was aware of current state. Buttons highlighting what activity I am on, or when I click something have it react. Probably a mouthful to digest.
Any thoughts? Also right now I have a dump Panasonic Plasma TV managing thru Harmony and making assumptions it’s on or off based on activities being on or off, XBox 360 using the same method since it’s not pingable, Denon receiver which I can fully manage, and a NVidia Shield Pro TV. Doesnt have the shield yet but will when Amazon gets it back in stock.
