It runs the Home Assistant Dashboard app pretty smoothly, but it would be interesting to use it as an input device for Home Assistant Voice control as well.
That’s it. He doesn’t really seem to talk about using the Echo’s mic (aside from the initial silly duct tape joke).
From Home Assistant’s point of view, the Echo running Lineage is just a generic Android device.
I’m not sure if it’s possible to use any mic with the cloud voice recognition service — I kind of took that for granted, but I’ve never really looked into it.
Beside that the dashboard looks and works great on it and an always powered device is just perfect for HomeAssistant.
I suppose it can be used directly as a media player too? Those speakers are pretty good.
From what I can work out. The Fdroid Termux build is ARMV8l which is a 32-bit ARMv8 userland but there is no tensorflowlite build for ARMV8l, that I could find anyway. The LineageOS is 32bit.
Would be interesting if anybody else has already managed this.
I´ve installed Lineage on 1.gen echo show 5 and 8. Works great with HA, spotify, bubblepnp.
Testinstalled also view assistant companion app, it works sometomes 2 times for assist commands, sometimes 4 times. After that voice assist did not respond any more till restart.
Have tried termux/wyoming-sat way. But it did not work.
This pretty devices could perfect upcycle targets if wakeword and voice assist worked stable!
Yes, you just need to configure it to start the View Assist app as if it were the HA address; it’s a way for you to specify the application’s address in the Android folder.
