Echo Spot 2024 always idle - Alexa Media Player

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with the new Echo Spot (2024, round with display) and Alexa Media Player v5.14.1 on Home Assistant 2026.3.3.

Problem:
The media_player.echo_spot entity always reports idle state, even when the device is actively playing music. The media_content_type attribute also stays idle and never updates.

What I checked:

  • All other Echo devices in my home (Echo Gen2, Echo Dot Gen5) correctly report playing state when active
  • Polling interval is set to 30 seconds
  • last_called attribute also stays false even when the device is in use
  • The issue is specific to the Echo Spot 2024 model

My setup:

  • Home Assistant 2026.3.3 (HAOS)
  • Alexa Media Player v5.14.1
  • Raspberry Pi 5
  • Amazon account: amazon.it

Expected behavior:
media_player.echo_spot should report playing when audio is active, just like all other Echo devices.

Is anyone else experiencing this with the new Echo Spot 2024? Any workaround available?
