Hi need a little help please, I have an ECOBEE 3 , As we cant use an API i have tried to setup through Homekit. Enter your eight-digit HomeKit pairing code (in the format XXX-XX-XXX) to use this accessory.
I am trying to find the pairing code… where do i find that… I only see 8 digit code but not in that format… I have added the dashes but nothing.
Any help would be appreciated
Straight from the EcoBee website:
On the ecobee Thermostat

I am trying for the first time to integrate my ecobee thermostats to HA. HA in my NAS can indeed find the 2 Ecobee Thermostats, but while trying to add them it asks for an API Key. Ecobee support told me they no longer provide API Keys. I do have an AppleTV. Is there a way to integrate to HA without Homekit? Or do I need to use the AppleTV for HomeKit? If so, I am a complete newbie in HomeKit, help needed.
All you have to do is install the HomeKit Bridge integration in Home Assistant and follow the directions as specified earlier in this thread.

Yes You can actually connect ecobee to HA, via Homekit the protocol, without AppleTV. Let me explain.
HA has two integrations around HomeKit, and what you need is not the "HomeKit Bridge" as mentioned above, but this one, the "HomeKit Device" integration.
Yes it's confusing, and HA has changed the name around those 2 integrations before, to make it less confusing... but still.
Basically this "HomeKit Device" is to enable your HA server to announce: "hey everyone on the LAN, I'm your HomeKit hub, pair with me, and you can ignore the other hub called AppleTV."
.... and then you follow the pairing code thing.
