Ecobee new Standard modes

Is There a way to add a few more “standard modes” in Home Assistant? For example Home1 Sleep2 Sleep 3 Home2…

The modes are based on what the integration and device expose and support. Ecobee’s only support a Home, Sleep, Away and one other I believe, and that’s what the integration exposes. HomeKit exposes the same modes since that’s what the Ecobee reports.

Even if you could create additional modes in HA, the Ecobee wouldn’t understand them. There’s no way to create new modes in the Ecobee itself (unfortunately).

If your idea is to create modes that exist only in HA, you’d have a fair amount of work to do that. It might be easier to just have a script or automation that sets your Ecobee to what you’d like and expose a button or something to enable that.

Thanks For the Reply…I don’t understand…I bought my Ecobee before the pandemic. I owned it when Ecobee allowed more varied time schedules not the 30 min increments we have today (This is not a new thing).

I use these custom setting to compensate for the lack of insulation of our house as well as the excessive radiant heat living in Texas.

I also take advantage custom temps and scheduling to allow my hvac to operate on a lower setting ( We own a 2 stage hvac system). I gradually change the temp to keep my system operating at 70% of capacity. (Ecobee’s staging does not work for me)

Ecobee allows for Custom Names. These names have a max char length. (see attached images)I just name mine based on the Target temp e.g. 71 Home 71 HomenH (Temp sensor H not included)

You guys were able to program “Unavailable” and “Unkown”, on top of “Home”, “Sleep”, & “Away”

I am guessing “Unavailable” means no data was pulled whatsoever.

You guys Programmed “Unkown”, I am guessing that it means that HA was able to pull data but HA was not able to process it because it did not fall in the 3 specific Home, Sleep, & Away modes/comfort settings.

Perhaps adding a limited number of predetermined names. HAtemp1, HAtemp2

Instead of me using 72 Home If I name the mode as HAtemp1 maybe Home Assistant would know how to deal with it?

I guess this all depend on Home Kit?.. How does Home Kit deal with “unkown” names?
