I’ve been sandboxing my HASS system and swapping my Z-Wave stick to the Pi so I can test and switch over automation from my old system. Today I’m doing a dry-run of all my devices to see how HASS performs and there are a handful of devices it cannot find.
Several are Fibaro motion sensors, it can find about 75% of them but the other 25% I just can’t get to come up, even though they are sitting right next to the stick as I do my testing. I also have a GE Z-Wave switch that isn’t recognized at all by HASS. These devices have been working flawlessly under my old system so I’m not sure why they don’t recognize in HASS.
Can the zwcfg file be edited manually to bring these devices into HASS if discovery doesn’t find them? Since I have so many Fibaro devices it’s easy to copy-and-paste the values, but the GE is unique and I’m not sure what I would have to do to get that manually added.
So you are saying that you have previously/currently had those devices paired to the same z stick you are using now with HA in another system but when you plug that stick into HA it doesn’t find all of the devices?
If that’s the case how long did you wait? It might take a while for those devices to “wake up” and report in to HA for them to be found by HAS itself even tho they are already paired to the stick.
Thanks for replying. Yes, that is the case, all my devices are “in the stick”. I have forced the various devices to wake up several times - in the case of the GE switch I’ve turned it on and off but not much else I can do, and don’t expect I need to since it’s hard wired.
I’ve also had the stick moved over to my Pi all day, just in case there was some lag, but still nothing. That’s why I thought “well, can’t I just add it to the XML?”.
I’ve also healed the network a couple of times, keeping a couple of the motion sensors active during the process.
Current integration, whatever is cooked into the standard Add-Ons through Supervisor. Do I have to change HASS to use beta updates to see the beta version?
The second one is the beta version but from a different HA instance that still uses the default theme. So yours is actually just like my first one (only in a different color )
That said, you could edit the xml file but there’s a lot of info in there and I’m not sure that it will be easy to get all of the syntax correct.
Even then if you could I don’t think that will guarantee that those devices will then communicate with HA. There has to be a reason that they aren’t discovered by the zwave integration and most likely it’s due to a comm issue between the devices and HA (via the stick) for some reason.
Are you sure those devices aren’t listed as a node in the zwave configuration section?
If not then I think what I would do (aside from giving HA a few more restarts since that fixes more issues than it should or even waiting a bit longer for the devices to be picked up) is to reset a single device to factory default and try to repair it to the stick. IF that is the only thing that works then that is probably the route I would take.
