Editing system files (e.g fstab) while using HassOS

Hi guys,

recently I thought about giving HassIO a shot, since I was currently running on Hassbian, which is being retired. On Hassbian I was able to edit the fstab and e.g. set /var/log as tmpfs to extend the lifetime of the SD card (I run a central syslog server anyway) or mount a NFS share for rsync backups.

Now, naturally I can’t do this on hassio anymore. I’ve seen, that you can use a USB stick for the configuration but except the network config, the documentation is rather simple. So, my question is, is it still possible to edit system config files? Is there maybe an example on how to do this?

Thanks so far

Not really

Have you considered a raspbian lite install and then hass.io as a generic linux installation? That works pretty well or even regular home assistant in docker. Either of those approaches give you that underlying control.

Ok, I was afraid of this anwer…

HassIO on raspbian lite seems to be the only option left then. Too bad, I was hoping for a more automatic way of handling the OS. Thanks for your feedback
