[Edmonton/Alberta] Integration with smart meters

Hey all!

Using this as a bit of a scratchboard for my research into the smart meters in use around Edmonton, Alberta. I recently moved here after buying my first house and I want to integrate my meters with HomeAssistant.

Water: Landys-Gyr GridLinx Interpreter S5
Electricity: Landys-Gyr Gridstream RF Focs AXR-SD
Gas: unknown

I’ve found that the GR-smart-meters project might have support for these meters, but I need to purchase an RTL-SDR to be able to intercept and decrypt the signals. It looks like the closest to me anyone has attempted is in Quebec as per the CRCs in the README.

As for the gas meter, it seems to be an older unit with dials on the front and no smart capabilities I can see. It’s mounted outside, outside of our fenced area, and I would assume someone comes by to read the meter (I hope! I hate reading how the companies just guess sometimes) so I’m concerned about blocking the readings with an ESPCAM.

Looking to share my research with other people in the area, and have other people share what they’ve learned as well as I don’t see a whole lot on these units.
