Electric blankets

Hi everybody, it’s Fall again and I remembered that my bed’s gonna get cold in the evenings again. This year, I have HASS on my side though. So!

I was wondering if anyone has found an electric blanket that either:
A. begins heating as soon as it is plugged in ?
B. has an IR/radio/wifi remote control (not just physical button) ?

I’d like to heat my bed up (some method: remote control or Sonoff relay) as soon as I arrive home (presence detection / proximity) if it’s close enough to bedtime (timer automation) and the bedroom is cold (BRUH DIY multisensor).

I’m also open to ideas.

you could just use any blanket set to on, then use any power on/off like a wemo or a sonoff basic. have HA turn it on for 30mins prior to bed.

That used to be the case, but lately most come with solid state controls that do no retain on/off setting through a power cycle.

i have used hass for more then a year now. so i have the experience from last year.
i have blankets wit 6 levels.
i have the blanket set to level 6 and plugged it in to an old 433 mhz power switch.
that switch i control with HA.

i have an automation that sets it on at a specific time, but the blanket only heats up at maximum power for 1 hour, then it goes to level 3. so sometimes if we go to bed a little later then normal it is not hot enough.
but no problem i can also switch it on and off on my dashboard, so then its resetted.

Yes, this was my concern. I had an old electric blanket that would default to “off” when first plugged in, then require you to click its only button to turn it on

Thanks ReneTode, that’s helpful. Do you remember what make/model# your blanket is? I might be interested in ordering one on Amazon

sorry i cant help you there.
my wife bought them 2 years ago (if i remember correctly by supermarket lidl)

i think its like this one:

but we bought them cheaper

if i needed to buy new ones now, i would go for less options, because i dont need them anyway.
so something like this would do

what you need to look at is a switch that isnt a button, but a physical switch.
