No external server connection needed, not even for setup.
Possible to do properly secure the management connection.
Pin pad with exponential backoff ratelimiting.
NFC interface for phone challenges.
Reasonable physical security that is not circumventible with stupid tricks. Must at least be as visible as destroying the door.
Remote open.
Maybes and Undecideds, can you give opinion?:
Works without battery with fixed power supply? But that still does not work with power outage. How do you deal with emergency access?
Fallback with physical key?
Should I install an electromagnetic opener in the doorframe or a motorized cylinder module?
Extra security on top of HA authentication and TLS would be interesting, so as not to depend on the integrity of huge software stack involved with HA and peripherals. Like the lock has some public key cryptography on top or multiple TOTP slots that can be put on a phone. (I don’t expect anyone to specifically compromise HA just for me. It is cheaper to break the door and install a similar looking door. But then again computer things are getting worse but more abundant and skilled craftspeople are in high demand and low supply.)

You would need OpenCCU as additional integration plus a USB RF adapter. The unit mounts on your lock and turns the key. The communication is solely with OpenCCU/HA. It can therefore be used remotely through HA, while the door and lock mechanics remain untouched.
But if you consider installung a completely new door, you should look into integrating the motor directly in the door. Control then could for example be realized with some cheap ESP32 connection through ESPHome.
Reading the docs, I see what nilgas is about. I read a lot of stuff about installing the things around the thing. But not how I use the actual installed thing.
The homematic forum is too full of specifics but it is not clear where to find an overview.
Not convinced.
Also despite not explicitly stated. I already have homeassistant. I don’t want yet another device/VM/SetOfSettings to maintain.
