I have uploaded the interface library to PyPi.org elke27 · PyPI - still working on the HA plugin to get it ready to publish.

Thanks for all your work on this. Once there is an integration, will anyone (i.e., NOT a dealer) be able to do a full DIY install of a new panel? The Elk documentation of record still contains wording about account creation, Elk approval, etc.

AFIK a DIY installation is possible since you can access the panel locally without an Elk Connect account. I’m not sure how you get remote access though without going through an installer.

I submitted the PRs today for the code and documentation. It’ll probably take a while to get through the review process as I am new at this. Hi, I'm very interested in your project and how its coming along. I had an HAI Omni system that finally stopped working right and I wanted to replace it with an alarm system where the wired alarm door and window sensors and motion detectors could be used to trigger automations while the system was disarmed. The options I could find were pretty limited.

I thought about an Elk M1 but it is a pretty old system and required add-ons to connect with ethernet. I ended up replacing the Omni with with an Eyezon Uno, which seems to work pretty well. However, I am building a new house and am interested in possibly using the Elk E27 if there is a good HA integration and it will pass through sensor states while disarmed. Do you have any idea when yours might be completed?

@mitchmitchell, just chiming in to say I appreciate your work! I'm in the market for a new security system and am considering the E27. I'm actively following this thread.

It all depends on when the home assistant dev reviewers complete their review and approve the code to merge. They require each PR to be as small as possible so after the first PR is merged I have several more to submit to complete the integration. You can try an unsupported version through a HACS custom repository from my GitHub -- it has all features I plan to submit implemented. We love our system, and with home assistant integration its been fantastic -- it arms itself when the last person leaves and disarms when the first person gets home (that's a home assistant function not my integration determining when someone is home) so we rarely have to interact with it. I've gone through three different security systems before we found the e27 trying to get good home automation integration and now we have it.

Also to clarify, sensor states are passed when disarmed both faults and restores. You’ll want to use the custom HACS repository until all the PRs have been accepted and merged though.

Thanks. Does the E27 require the cloud (other than for if I want it professionally monitored) and/or a subscription or can it be set up and controlled fully locally? The Eyezon integrates well with HA but has a cloud portal for making settings like the type of zone, what type of chime the keypad makes when a particular zone is tripped etc. and it uploads those settings to the alarm panel. I'm not sure what would happen if Eyezon went out of business and their cloud shut down. I'd like to avoid that same uncertainty with the E27 if possible.

It can be set up without the cloud, my test system is set up like that. you can use the app to provision the panel on your local network. remote access requires a subscription but local works stand alone.

The cloud service is not required for professional monitoring. I have an alarm installation company, and I'm registered with Elk as an alarm dealer. The E27 can be set up with an IP account at a monitoring center. The signals from the E27 go straight to an IP receiver at the center with no involvement to the cloud. When my customers want monitoring, I typically bundle the cloud service with it. Not only does that give them remote access with their mobile device, but it gives me a diagnostic path when they call me and say, "Why is my keypad beeping?" Neither service is required for the system to operate on it's own, however.

I have installed a number of M1 systems over the years, and several E27 systems recently and the E27 has become my panel of choice. I have been following this thread with much interest lately, because integration with Home Assistant will open up a lot of options, as it has for the M1.
