Hi, I have just started playing with Home Assistant and I am trying to connect an ELKO Wi-Fi thermostat 16A (user guide here) to my HA.
The HA is running on an x64 bare metal NUC. I have a Sonoff Dogle Max and have been able to connect several Zigbee and Matter devices.
I have been able to connect the thermostat to the Elko Smart app. However, I have not found a way to connect it to HA. I found a post that indicated that this should work using the Matter integration, but as there is no qr code to scan (that I can see after the thermostat is installed) I do not understand how to do that.
No, I didn’t think the thermostat supported Matter, but as the post I linked said it did (assuming it is the same thermostat), I was wondering how I could connect it if it did support Matter.
I think you are out of luck I’m afraid, as far as I know there’s no way to connect this thermostat to HA. If you ordered it online you could use the “angrerett” to return it if you are inside the return window. Elektroimportøren sells thermostats that use Zigbee or Matter.
Thanks a lot for that tip! I got a bit further by installing LocalTuya. I used the client ID and Secret from here. When trying to add a device, it seems to detect the thermostat, shows its IP address and Device ID, but requests a “Local key”. The page I linked above also explains how to get the local key - but how would I run those python scripts from the Home Assistant server? I have installed the Pyscript Python scripting integration but don’t undertand how to create a script on the server. Apologies if this should be obvious…
I have successfully connected several elko smart wifi thermostats to HA now. I used the local tuya integration. It was some fiddling and adjustments needed with the help of AI. I have it showing the floor temp, this needed som experimentation to find out which inputs to choose in local tuya setup. I also set up a switch for the childlock feature. My thermostats now have full local control, instant 3-way response (elko app/HA/device)
