Energy "cost" sensor - what data is it actually showing?

Hello,

I have the Shelly EM monitor wired into my fuse box and linked to HASS to give me my real time energy usage, and record cost etc.

After setting everything up, I noticed a new entity: sensor.shelly_em_channel_1_energy_cost

This entity doesn’t show up in my entities list in settings, and doesn’t show on the Shelly device page. It is only available to add to a dashboard, so I don’t really know where this is coming from, I can only make the assumption that this is something added by the HASS Energy monitoring system?

So that leads to my question… what is this showing? Currently it’s showing me a value of £2.71 - this is way too high to be a daily cost (~£0.50), and it’s lower than the current weekly cost (£2.95) on the energy page, and definitely isn’t monthly…!

Thanks in advance
