I built a Home Assistant project that checks the Epic Games Store for normally paid games that are temporarily available for €0.
The idea started simple - notify me when Epic gives away a paid game - but it grew into a small workflow that also remembers what I already own and prevents duplicate notifications.
What it does
- Checks the Epic Games Store every 6 hours
- Detects normally paid games that are currently €0
- Ignores games already in my Owned list
- Prevents duplicate notifications for the same promotion
- Sends one notification even if several games are free
- Lets me confirm the games as claimed
- Adds confirmed games to an Owned list
- Keeps notification/claim history
- Can restore a claimed game if it is accidentally removed from the Owned list
Ways to confirm a claim
You can confirm pending games from:
- Android or iPhone actionable notification
- Home Assistant dashboard tile
- Apple Watch
- Wear OS
- Manual script run
The dashboard tile also changes colour when there are games waiting to be claimed.
How it works
It uses:
- Epic Games public store endpoint
- two Local To-do lists
- two HA automations
- one script
- one Template Binary Sensor
- one dashboard tile
No custom integration or HACS component is required.

I tried to make the installation guide usable for someone starting from scratch, so feedback on the instructions is very welcome.
