ESP8266/ESP32 based boards, again

Hey guys,

A few years ago I had started a topic sharing the designs I use for my own automation systems (here).

I later switched the repositories to Private to make adjustments, then life got in the way and I never made them public again. So here they are, with updates and some new designs. Some were built and extensively used, some have not been manufactured (yet).

Hope they can be useful to someone. I’ll be happy to discuss them if there’s any interest.

Cheers

Thanks for the share and the very nice design of these boards  What is the use of the 24V input on boards ?

Hi Vincèn, thanks for the nice feedback.

The 24V input is for supplying power to the board. Some of them also have PoE capabilities meaning they can be powered by the Ethernet cable if you have a compatible switch.

The choice for 24V comes from the industrial automation world where I come from. This higher voltage will allow for longer cable runs and will be more resilient to interference when compared to 12V or 5V.

I am redesigning the PWM output boards to also use 24V led stripes as now they are becoming more common and less expensive.

How and where do you order your boards?
Do they work with esphome?

I order them from JLCPCB, using the tools on their website. There’s a Kicad plugin that helps on generating the files in the correct format. I use their assembly service too, I always try to populate the boards as much as possible as a lot of components are not easily available here in Brazil and otherwise I would need to buy them from Mouser = more expensive.
