ESP8684 DevKitC 02 wont run after writing to it in ESPHome

Hi, first of all I’m an absolute newbie to ESPH & HA. I’m trying to automate my Hormann Garage door over wifi. With the help of CGPT it recommended an ESP8684-DevKitC-02 board (3v compatible for garage door motor). I’m able to flash the board from ESPHome, once it’s written via the USB flasher it opens the Log screen and just sits there ‘awaiting for serial output’. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried many things suggested by AI to no avail. Is the board compatible?

See attached

I’m pretty sure you heavily guided it to that choice somehow.
Esp32-c2 is quite uncommon board here but should be compatible.

What you get on logs if you press reset button?

Can you post your yaml correctly formatted so we can read it, we will then be of more help. Pictures cannot be seen well on smaller devices.

Nothing happens when I press Boot or RST on device or on the log window?

You need to format it correctly so it can be read, indentation is important. use the </> button as in the link I posted.

What are you expecting it to do, you have nothing set in the yaml?

Does it show up on your wifi network?

No cant see anything relevant to it?

I’m hoping to remotely control my garage door, just trying to get it to connect to wifi first before i go any further.

If the code compiles and it is loaded to the esp via USB cable it will show whether it is connecting or not in the log.

But until your yaml is posted in a correct format we can’t tell if it is correct or not. Although it looks like it is.

You will need to add a logger section.

Sorry I’m new to this, I’ve downloaded the YAML as a text file in notepad and it looks like the correct format but not sure how to paste into a reply on here as the format changes?

You use this button for code

Substitute your esp32: section of the code with this and try again:

esp32:
  board: esp32-c2-devkitm-1
  variant: esp32c2
  flash_size: 2MB
  framework:
    type: esp-idf
    sdkconfig_options:
      CONFIG_XTAL_FREQ_26: y

In that link I posted read the section about formatting code, I could rewrite it here but I can’t be bothered, it is written already after all.

But add the logger section or else you won’t get any logs.

logger:
  level: DEBUG

Unformatted code is hard to read and OP really should format it, but he/she has logger on the code.

So it is not getting a IP Address (timeout error). Do you have mDNS enabled/allowed on your home network router?

Yes its enabled. I cant see the board on the Fall Back HS either?

So what do you get on the serial log now (via USB)?
