I bought a bluetooth thermostat for my camper but it wouldn't work with my phone (black 3 button Coleman-Mach Airxcel). I thought maybe I could make it work through an esp32, have it in HA when at home and broadcast it's own wifi when camping for control. It's a bit clunky, but it works. I ended up adding my Victron shunt and GoPower solar charge controller as well because....why not. Heavily used AI in doing this but also took quite a bit of work using NRF for figuring out the bluetooth.
The image below shows not set for the "new setpoint". I guess that's a limitation of running it through ESP Home, the webserver is somewhat limited? I may try to iterate some more, see if I can provide buttons for the common temps instead of a dropdown. Either way, no more crawling out of bed to adjust the thermostat!
I hope this helps someone else - if nothing else jumpstart their project/feed their AI to create their solution.
