I would have suggested the Powermeter that works great but it uses clamp ! Considering where you want to use it, I would strongly advise to use clamps as it keeps you isolated of main power and current !
As @Karosm said you really need to include voltage and current at the main entrance. With the words you used, most would assume you mean a house/dwelling unit or business. Unless you have VERY low usage (less than 20A) and relatively low voltage (less than 42V) you will have issues with a direct connection and really need to know what you are doing or risk an untimely end.
Most people who do what I think you want, use current transformers and voltage transformers. They provide more than enough accuracy for most applications.
kWh is unit of energy
Ah is unit of electric charge.
A is current, which is needed to pick suitable power meter.
Anyway, did you have a look at Shelly Pro PM? They are high quality meters that work locally out of the box and don’t need hacking / tinkering.
4-channel version has display as well.
Shelly pro pm has and gen2 plus pm has as well. Afaik gen3 devices don’t.
Shelly has HA integration and works 100% local, stock firmware is quite complete. Never flashed one, but I expect it’s doable OTA as well…
