ESPhome devices all unavailable after system reboot - Home Assistant

Hi,

I’ve hit a problem with two of my esphome nodes. After restarting Home Assistant, all of the entities on my esphome nodes are now “unavailable”.

I’ve tried another restart and also restarting both the nodes. Both nodes show normal log messages and are seeing the end devices and reporting values for them (mostly temp/humid sensors)

Any ideas where to look for issues and/or what more information I can give.

Many thanks
Mike

After a bit more searching, I discovered a post with similar issues to mine. That was “solved” by disabling the nodes and re-enabling them again.

I’m not sure I consider that a solution - but at least I am back up for the time being. However, is anyone able to shed some light on what might have caused it? I’m concerned it will just happen again some time down the road.

Thanks
Mike

Mike,

I had this issue related to one of the ESPHOME devices I configured which would lose connection and show up as unavailable even though I had set the ESPHOME IP as static both at the controller and my internal router end. Other possible causes were encryption set up which people removed that seemed to fix the problem but not in my case.

In my case (and I don't know why I didn't initially check the Home Assistant logs on reboot) which showed failures for the entities created for that Controller due to non-unique ID's? This may have been caused as I was creating and deleting controller config whilst I was building it. Hence I updated the config by changing all the entity names, restarted, check logs and no errors. I have applied the standard Home Assistant updates over the past couple of weeks and controller is running rock solid.

So if anyone is pulling out their hair due to controller entities shown as Unavailable in Home Assistant even though ESP Home states that the controller is online, you have set static IP's then try renaming the entities for that controller and push out the code.... worked for me
