Hi,
I have replaced my former thermostats with Eurotronic Spirit Z-Wave models for various reasons.
Among other values, these also report the current opening level of the valve (as a percentage value), which I am tracking with InfluxDB and Grafana charts.
I noticed that even if the TRV is switched off (via climate.turn_off), this thing still seems to constantly control the valve opening - which is not optimal with opened windows.
Example:
The orange dotted line is the valve opening level; the blue dashed line represents the current setpoint. The green line and the red dashed line are temperature sensors in the same room (not used to control the TRV).
I have an automation that turns down the setpoint value and switches the TRV to off when a window is opened.
You can see that a little before 11:00h the window was opened (TRV off) and closed again shortly after 12:00h.
Strangely, immediately when opening the window and switching the TRV to off, the Eurotronic opened the valve to 25% and slowly reduces the opening level until about 10%.
I would have expected that the valve opening level would stay at 0% when the TRV is switched off.
Has anyone seen this? Am I missing something?
It’s not even cold enough that this could indicate some kind of frost protection mechanism.
Sebastian
