EV charging dashboard

Hello there. My first contribution to this forum.

Would like to show the Smart Charging Dashboard I created for charging our EV. It is taken into account day ahead dynamic energy prices and solar forecast. It is sun prio driven, price driven or time driven (deadline), or autopilot. In autopilot will learn to eventually charge for the lowest cost, with as much sun power as possible. It is learning right now if it took the right decisions.

It will balance the current in case the total current of the house is too high.

Any thoughts?

Really clean layout. Do you use it on your phone or on a wall tablet? Curious how long the autopilot takes before it starts picking better times than you would yourself.

Nice work, Frits — really clean layout! I built something very similar last year when we got our first EV, so a couple of lessons learned from my setup:

We also balance the charging current against the whole-house load, and one thing that made a real difference was adding a small hysteresis (about 1–2 A) to the balancing logic. Without it the charger kept hunting up and down whenever the heat pump cycled on and off. Also, running a short cool-down delay before ramping back up keeps things much more stable.

One suggestion: if you pull the charging power sensor into the Energy dashboard under individual devices, you get a really nice view of charging sessions against solar production without any extra cards. That’s become my favorite part of the whole thing.

Keep sharing updates — curious how it behaves through your first winter with it!
