Is there any way to export/backup an Automation from one HA installtion to another (on a different host)?
Sure, the automations all live in automations.yaml
.
Of course, if you used device triggers/conditions/actions none of those will be valid, and if you didn’t then the odds are all the entity_id
s are different too.

The easiest way to access automations.yaml
(the file where automations are saved) is probably via an Add-On such as:
- File editor (open
/config/automations.yaml
)
addons/configurator at master · home-assistant/addons · GitHub - Terminal & SSH (use
SCP
orcp
to copy files)
addons/ssh at master · home-assistant/addons · GitHub - Samba Windows file sharing server
addons/samba at master · home-assistant/addons · GitHub
Remember that a second host may not have the same entity names as the first.
If this helps, this post!

I back up the whole config folder every couple of months, using CX File Explorer on an Android tablet. Very useful for reference.
Hi James.
I’ll try.
Thanks
