Face recognition - Double take, frigate and an alternative for deepstack?

Hi

I would like to setup a face recognition to automate some tasks (e.g. a smart lock). I often read “double take” in combination with frigate and deepstack. As I saw, deep stack is no longer available for HA right? Are there any recommendations for a good alternative for deepstack?

Does anyone use this also to automate a smart lock (open/close a door) and if yes, is this possible to run on a raspberry 4 or is there needed stronger AI hardware?

Best Regards,
Stefan

The next version of frigate will do face recognition. It is in Dev now, soon to go into beta. Already working well. So wait or have a play with the dev version of frigate.

You may encounter issues with a pi4 though. I have not run frigate on a pi4 so can’t say but my HPt630 was at its limits with 6 cameras. And this was without face recognition. Someone else will be able to advise on the pi4 better than I can.

This is really cool! Started testing it now. Documentation about face recognition is a bit misleading to me as it suggest I can upload photos to be trained whereas there is no such option and I can only use the ones which were taken by the camera. But maybe I’m reading it wrongly? Also a new entity was added to HA with the last recognized face, super cool for some automations e.g. opening a gate

Go into the face page and top left click the face name, then in the top right click upload image
