Factory Reset Issue with Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition – Device Blinking Blue Instead of White

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition, and for some reason, I wanted to reinstall it. However, I’m having trouble with the factory reset process—it doesn’t seem to work as expected.

After performing the reset (holding the button as described in the instructions), the device doesn’t attempt to reconnect to WiFi. Instead, it keeps blinking blue instead of white, and it doesn’t show up in Home Assistant as a discoverable device.
After I blocked it from my WiFi list (through the router), the light became continuous white, but it still doesn’t try to reconnect.

I’ve tried resetting it multiple times following the instructions, but no luck. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Is there a way to ensure the device is properly reset or any other workaround that could help?
Do I need to reflash it somehow?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Solved!
I don’t know what was the problem but I reinstalled the firmware via here:

and now it works great

To add to this, I found some extra issues after removing it.

  • It had also created retained MQTT messages, so I deleted them using MQTT Explorer. With them in place it would (presumably) create a new set of entities (with _2) once setup again.

  • During the reinstall of the firmware I was initially skipping the wifi step, and then adding it to HA with the companion app as per the setup instructions. However, this process then showed up the dialog asking for the encyption key. I flashed it again and connected to wifi and HA via this process and all worked well.
