Failed to create credentials for device - help?

Hi all,

I have been struggling all day and not succeeded yet to add some Matter devices to my setup. Skip the boring stuff until Second problem (NOT SOLVED) f you don’t fancy long stories.

Hardware: NUC with HAOS running Z2M and other integrations, no problems there.

Hardware: I also had a Google Nest Hub (gen2) which was integrated in Google Home.

Hardware: SLZB Ultima 3

New: IKEA Thread/Matter devices

Via SLZB Ultima 3 (and radio 2 [CC2674P10] ) I setup Thread to Remote OTBR

First problem (SOLVED) was to get the Google Nest Hub gone from the companion App - troubleshoot - sync thread auth section, as the app on the android phone was connecting to the Google Nest, and the computer was set to use the Ultima 3. Goal was to set the Ultima as preferred network. I did this by rooting all data from Google Play Services. And logging back in, from the Google Home app, which needed verification.

Also Google Home syncing accounts and re-adding [HA] integration so I could control my Zigbee devices using Google, all done. Works.

I finally was able to check the one setting ‘HA and this device use the same network’. So I assume my Thread Border Router is set up correctly on my Ultima 3 and my Apps on HA are setup correctly.

Second problem (NOT SOLVED).

I start by adding a device via

  • Matter in HA + [ Add device] or
  • Android - Settings - Google - All services - Matter + [Add device] (Thread networks shows OTBR active)

And if I use Google Home or if I use Home Assistant .. it says

  1. Get ready to setup (saying the device must be in pairing mode and wifi must be connected, it is a 2.4 Ghz network, inc. ipv6 support)
  2. Then a screen with “Finding Device”
  3. Then a screen with “Connecting to Device”
  4. Then a screen with “Cannot create credentials for device” (roughly translated from DUTCH)

And no matter what I do .. in no way can I get the device connected.

Is anybody able to tell me what credentials for what device? are not being created?

Is it Google credentials for the Google Home app??

Is it WIFI credentials in HA-Settings-Devices and services-Matter-Cogwheel-OPTIONS- Set WIFI credentials? Or is it in the same options window the Thread credentials?

I get the same settings via Settings-Connectivity-Matter-

It even says Bluetooth enabled FALSE .. however I have bluetooth enabled on my phone, from which I initiate the pairing. I doubt if the NUC that HAOS is on has Bluetooth.

It also has a Dataset ID which is not the same as the Dataset ID ffrom my OTBR 01M1M8T0M5GYN3PKCPFNVS24PE
vs
01M1M0B3PW1DCKBWCJKE5G4A6S

Is this why generating credentials fails? How can I sync?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Syncing in the companion app is 100% and default TBR in Google settings is also verified and online stored.

No reply what so ever?

I have done the setup again. I removed the Ultima 3 from the setup (made both Zigbee). I cleaned the Google Play Services about 6 times now and I have a default OTBR (The Google Nest Hub gen2).

And still I get the message

  • searching device
  • connecting device
  • cannot create credentials for device <<ERROR<<

Neitehr MYGGSPRAY nor MYGGBETT wants to connect.

Any ideas?

I have synced within the companion app. I have cleaned GPS many times. I have ipv6 on my network (ASUS AX88U). I have tried different settings on my WIFI, to no avail.

Also

  • I do not see a TLV in the Google Nest Hub OTBR when I click on (i) in the ha Thread setup.
  • I also - in Ha Webserver UI Matter Server - have grayed out commision NEW WIFI and commission NEW THREAD device.

Please help me solve this problem. I am about to throw out the matter/thread components and resolve to Zigbee.

In Short " MYGGSPRAY & MYGGBETT " Needs to be paired through Bluetooth, so if you don’t have any bluetooth on your HA-hardware you need to add this via i.e an Bluetooth adapter , to be able to “pairing” / adding Thread Credentials

I pair them via my android phone which has bluetooth and companion app.

My HAOS is on a nuc .. I cannot pair straight from HAOS. Also in HAOS the option for NEW wifi/thread device is not available.

Thanks for trying. Any other ideas on maybe my phone Bluetooth not being up to standard?
