I need some help getting a fan template, ideally if someone has an already working template that matches my set-up that would be perfect.
So, I have a 3-speed tower fan which has buttons for power, speed, oscillate, and timer.
Power turns the unit on/off, and I have 3 speeds to choose from which are low, medium, and high. If I turn the unit off, it turns off and will come back on at the last speed it was set to.
Pressing a speed does not turn the unit on, I have to do that seperately with the power button. Also, changing speed requires pressing the speed button repeatedly in a loop to till you reach the desired speed.
I would like to get this setup as an entity in home assistant so i can then attach it to a fan card.
I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to get this going, but I would like for the state of the fan to be remembered in HA and if I am on HIGH and I choose medium, it should make the number of necessary presses/signals required to reach that speed.
Normally I am pretty good at getting this stuff going but this one has me in a bind.
Any help you all can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Do you even have it integrated in any way? A template in itself is just a way to link existing things together. You are not giving enough information to build a template from by telling how your fan works.
As for remembering the state: if the fan can be controlled outside HA, remembering a state is useless, because it won’t match what happened outside its view.
I have my fan added to a broadlink ir remote and i have the broadlink integration installed into home assistant if that helps.
The fan would only be controlled via the home assistant app. So nothing would happen outside home assistants view, the fan would be in the same state it was last operated .
