I created a Tuya developers account, configured it to work with the Smart Life app, and added the bulb to the app, and then it appeared in HA. But the only control it has is an on/off toggle. Is this normal, or did I miss something?
Tuya is hit and miss as to what is exposed.
There are other Tuya integrations that might expose other things.
When I buy Tuya, I expect that 25% of the stuff will be unusable when it gets here and gets tossed, and another 50% won’t do exactly what I want it to.
Don’t buy Tuya if you are not ready for that kind of odds.
Thanks for the advice. I just cancelled an order of 4 Lightinginside bulbs which were Tuya based. I’ve read the Lightinginside are either Tuya or Matter. These did not indicate Matter at all. I ordered the OREiN bulbs below where are Matter based.
I can’t believe I just went through the rigmarole of setting up a Tuya developer account, local not cloud, only to find the bulb only has an on/off control. Live and learn!
I sometimes take the chance if it’s the only mfgr selling a thing or a thing at the right price. I am willing to toss stuff, though.
Actually the odds with zigbee Tuya is better, still will disappoint you. WIFI is horrible and almost always cloud and slow as “The river Temarc in winter”
