I have a number of Feit Electric WiFI switches configured in Home Assistant using Local Tuya.
This worked perfectly for over a year. Now recently I’ve found that these devices begin to become offline in Home Assitant. They remain offline until I reboot my WiFi router, after which they work properly for a week or two, then go offline again. I do not need to restart Home Assistant for them to reappear. Just the restart of the router does the trick.
This problem started happening without me changing any configuration in HA (e.g., no update to HA core, no update of integrations… I take the don’t fix it if it ain’t broke approach to Home Assistant and only update things if something isn’t working). So I can’t pin this down to some change I might have made.
Curiously, when this happens I can still operate them through the Tuya app, so the devices themselves are connected and functional.
I thought perhaps my router was expring the IP lease on these devices and then assigning a different one, so I set up DHCP reservations for each of the devices, but that didn’t fix the issue.
Since this has started to happen I’ve tried a number of things to try and resolve it. There was a different fork of Local Tuya available and I tried that. I’ve since updated HA to the latest software and that didn’t resolve it either.
My router is a Sagemcom Gigahub for fibre-to-the-home internet (provided by my service provider), so replacing the router is not an option, but a software update that might have been pushed to the router by my service provider might be the cause, but they are no help in giving me clues.
Has anyone run into this problem? Any ideas on what else I can try?
