I’ve looked around for some decent quality fridge/freezer sensors for my door refrigerator and chest freezer, but haven’t found any decent Matter or Zigbee sensors that are designed to function past freezer temps. Do any products of this category exist?
I would probably make one with Espressif’s ZeroCode and run at with Matter on an ESP32-C3 board with your own choice of sensor.
I use the Aqara zigbee sensors and they work pretty well.
the one in the freezer might drop off every couple of months but’s typically reconnected by just hitting the button.
I use Shelly BLU bluetooth temperature sensors in both my fridge and my freezer. They have been flawless.
I use SwitchBot “IP65 Indoor Outdoor Thermometer Hygrometer” sensors. They use BLE, and I just have cheap little ESP32 Bluetooth Proxy units around the premises (either wi-fi or Ethernet).
I’ve got 6 of those in fridges & freezers in 3 different buildings, & using another few as simple temp / humidity sensors, for outdoors and outbuildings.
They’re very reasonably priced (occasionally on sale in muti-packs on Amazon), and powered by AA batteries, which last a long time. They’ve been rock-solid for me.
