First install of Home Assistant

Hi guys,
I’m new to Home Assistant and the community

I do have some experience with building PC’s but new to Raspberry PS’s… I live in South London and would appreciate some assistance with setting up my home assistant yellow with Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5. I have also installed Western Digital black NVME 1TB ssd, could this make a difference ?

I uploaded home assistant on a dongle but when I try to flash the module , the light comes on but nothing happens. Spoke to the pi hut who I brought this from but no joy

Tried multiple times to do this but no chance. I will need to work out why nothings happening but some assistance would be appreciated. I’m sorry if this is a request I’m not supposed to make but couldn’t find any pc shops who could assist.

I received this from the Pi hut but I’m not sure if I need additional items to do the below:

2. Prepare the eMMC or SD Card

  • If using an eMMC module, make sure it is connected via a USB eMMC adapter to your PC.

Note: If you’re using an eMMC module, you may need an adapter to connect it to your PC or use a Raspberry Pi to flash the image

Which step here did you get to:

Did you happen to use the screws to mount the CM5 module? There are specific instructions for the CM5 that say not to use the screws to mount the CM5, and if you did, the CM5 module was damaged and is unusable now.

Hi there,

I didn’t use any screws as it’s a press fit. I followed the instructions. I think I was able to install USB but I have a feeling the yellow light may not be working. I have seen the green and red lights but never the yellow light flash. Any way of testing the lights?
