Hello All,
Very new user here. I originally had HA running on a raspberry pi4 but it’s fan is very noisy so I’m trying to restore my HA to a mini Beelink computer. I use Nabucasa and have downloaded backups from there and inside the homeassistant:8123 browser. My back up zipped folder has 4 files - backup.json, core_configuration.tar.gz, homeassistant.tar.gz, and a ssl.tar.gz file. I’ve watched plenty of videos and they all make it sound so easy. I have HA os installed on the Beelink and ready to go. I hooked up the beelink to the network, turned it on and go to homeassistant:8123 and choose the restore option. However I can’t use any of the files as they end in .gz and not .tar.
In searching all over the web I’ve now found that I may need to unzip the tar.gz file using 7zip and then try to transfer it into the directory? I downloaded 7zip but first of all I’m not sure if I’m supposed to use it to unzip the zipped backup file with the 4 files in it or if I’m only supposed to use it to unzip the homeassistant.tar.gz file? Either way it doesn’t seem to be extracting anything different? After that I have no idea how to get to the directory to even transfer it to? I assume I choose to not restore and just enter the new beelink ha os using homeassistant:8123? I’m so lost and every video I watch just shows simply hit download back up, then use that file to restore from and you’re done. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any and all help!
Go through onboarding (create a user etc…) Then to Settings → system → Backup. In the upper right corner, there is 3 dots. Click it, then upload your backup. Then restore from that screen.
Use the backup file (your “back up zipped folder”) without unzipping it. It should be a .tar file
I’m not quite sure what you mean by go through onboarding? However I just saw that there was an option to backup/restore from the cloud and that worked perfectly.
