Newbie to HA, and would like to expand to Zigbee etc, preferably using a dongle. Two problems, HAOS is installed on a Proxmox VM, on a Dell PC which is in our garage, about 25m from the house. I guess not the best place for a dongle. The garage is hardwired for ethernet, with a nearby WiFi AP and an ethernet hub which could provide PoE. I haven’t yet done much, so would be happy to just scrap that install and install a new HAOS on Raspberry Pi (which I am familiar with). That could then live in the house with a dongle? Any guidance please.
I would go for one of the ethernet based coordinators like these https://smlight.tech/ and keep the server as is in the garage. Place the coordinator in your house and build the zigbee network from there.
