Hi everyone,
I’ve been a happy user of floor3d-card by @adizanni for a long time. The original repository hasn’t been updated since 2024, and on recent Home Assistant versions some things started to break (for example the drop-down menus of the editor, since HA no longer ships mwc-menu). So I made a fork, updated the libraries and added a few features I wanted for my own home:
It is based on version 1.5.3: existing configurations keep working and the card type is still custom:floor3d-card. Full credit to adizanni for the original work (MIT licence).
What’s new
Under the hood
- three.js 0.130 → 0.186, Lit 3, Rollup 4, TypeScript 5.9
- Colours in sRGB, physical light units, Neutral tone mapping and exposure
- The editor is loaded only when you edit the card; nothing is rendered while the card is hidden
- Fixes: states out of step when an entity is missing at startup, crash on startup, animation loop lifecycle, the camera light always pointing at the centre of the model, and more
New card editor, built on Home Assistant’s own components (like the built-in cards):
- settings in sections, toggles, entity pickers, drag and drop lists
- warnings for entities that don’t exist and objects that aren’t in the model
- pick objects by tapping them in the preview, and objects of the item being edited highlighted
- “Use the current view” to create a zoom area from where you moved the camera
- much shorter YAML
New features
Sunlight from sun.sun, with shadows that follow the time of day
State colours for doors and rooms, room maps by temperature or presence
Person trackers for presence radars that report coordinates (e.g. HLK-LD2450)
TV screen showing the media player picture and lighting the room with its colour
Animated shower- Info boxes, “Views” and “Map” menus, tap and long-press actions
Installation (HACS)
Or in HACS: ⋮ › Custom repositories › https://github.com/giosci1994/floor3d-card, type Dashboard, then download floor3d-card mod.
If you have the original card installed, remove it from HACS first: both use custom:floor3d-card and the same folder. Your card configuration stays the same.
All the new options are documented in FORK.md; the rest of the README is the original documentation.
Tested on Home Assistant 2026.9. Feedback, bug reports and ideas are very welcome, here or in the GitHub issues. If your existing setup behaves differently from the original card, please tell me: that’s exactly what I want to catch.
