I want to be brief here. This is a plea to HA maintainers.
ZwaveJS/ZwaveJS2Mqtt is great bla bla bla. But it constantly marks my main door lock as a dead node. I already reported this with debug log files. Put yourself in my position - would you like to be locked out of your house in English weather? No. ZwaveJS is not the answer to all Zwave problems.
I uninstalled it, and recreated my openzwave docker container, added the node, and bam it works flawlessly.
Seriously, please do not deprecate. ZwaveJS/ZwaveJS2Mqtt is not perfect and it’s not fair to break stuff like door locks because someone thought it would be good to remove the openzwave integration for the sake of it. Please maintain, it works, it can coexist. At least until they guarantee basic functions like keeping nodes alive and allowing us to use their basic functionality like lock/unlock.
I believe your request is too late because it already has been deprecated. That ship has sailed.
That’s definitely not the reason why it was deprecated. It’s my understanding that its author no longer had time to maintain it and no one in the open-source community volunteered to take over; it effectively became a dead-end. Feel free to continue using it but be aware that it’s no longer being improved or supported.
As for your lock that fails to work properly with Z-Wave JS, reporting it as an Issue is your best bet. Perhaps one of the developers can fix it. That seems like the best long-term solution.
Let’s hope that they can, because the lock has been rock solid overnight with openzwave (I spent 6 hours yesterday with a lot of back pain removing the lock and trying to see if it was an installation issue).
Also to note, I am talking about openzwave, not the integrated zwave. The integrated zwave was really buggy but openzwave has been very stable.
