I have been having difficulty accessing the forum for some time with a 504 error.
Anyone else having this problem and are there any solutions?

Same here, it’s been a royal pain in the Chatham Pocket for a couple of weeks.
502, 504, heck I think I even had a 524 today! But, yes, the forum has not been very reliable for a few weeks now. Would be nice to know what the issue is and what the plan is to address it. Kind of hard to have a community based project like this when we can’t easily communicate.
Agree with all of this the above.
Couldn’t be worse without Cloudflare one would think - never seen a message where Cloudflare said that the server was unavailable, but they served a cached/stored page.

That’s definitely an aggravating factor, a bog standard 'bugger, it’s broke" page with a picture of a sad stickman would be far better than cloudfare teasing you that it will give you a read only version, just for that to not work as well 
I’ve been seeing this a lot in the past several weeks.
Or I get the “Retry for a live version”
Or the 504
Most likely explanation is that the forum is overloaded.
