Are there any stats on how many people post to the forum?
I ask because, having been away for a few months, there seem to be fewer posts in the “new” list every day. Those that are there seem to be much more technical than I remember.

Posts are down a ton. My guess is people turning to AI for help over the forums. The decline in posts started around April 2025
EDIT: Number of people using HA is still increasing
Number of forum accounts has remained steady, number of site views is still increasing. It seems that people are legitimately just posting less, but the traffic is still the same.
It’s interesting to note that logged in user views are down 63%, however overall site traffic is up 33% (people not logged in + people logged in).
To me, this kind-of points towards AI being used heavily for support.
Fascinating. It makes sense that people are turning to AI first, instead of posting a question here and waiting for someone who might know to answer.
Of course this also reinforces a concern I have had about AI. If everyone goes to AI for answers, and AI only “knows” what has already been posted on the internet, how can that knowledge base ever grow? With no-one turning to web sites or forums, there’s no reason to add new information there. With no new information, all we’d ever know is whatever was on line today.

It also seems more conversations are happening on Discord only. This makes finding info much more difficult and time consuming. Its a double gut punch that’s knocked the wind out of this forum.
+1 agree! In my 2 years on HA, everything I learned for my basic little setup, I learned here on the forums. And yes, it was difficult and very time consuming, quite painful TBH, lol.
But, I have a stable setup (for now). I’ve never used AI and not interested in using it. As for Discord, that’s a hard no for me. I’ve also decided to skip the monthly HA updates for a while. Too many breaking changes, too fast for me. This was my retirement hobby, but it’s starting to feel less like a hobby, not so much fun…like I’m still working my full-time IT job. But, I still love HA and appreciate the devs hard work!

There is no link, we’ve just mentioned in passing that we will be updating the forums at some point… soon… TBD
Does that mean the version of Discourse?
Yes, and the look and feel of the forums. Many of the plugins we use were deprecated years ago and no longer function properly.
I’ve used discourse forums for a long time and the only thing I notice lacking here is reaction emojis other than like. It’s not a big deal. It’s a fine forum IMO.
