Forward zigbee devices from Aqara M100 -> HA?

Hi there,
I’m quite new to HA and am overwhelmed by the possibilities. I have been able to integrate all sort of stuff already. But there is one thing I’m struggling with:

Is it possible to integrate my Aqara zigbee-devices which are paired to the Aqara M100 Hub in the Aqara Home App?

I was able to integrate the M100 as Thread Border Router and as Matter Controller into HA. But I don’t quite understand how to forward the paired Zigbee devices. The zigbee Integration requires a physical Zigbee dongle to be present. So this does not seem to be the correct way.

Can anyone lead the way? Thanks in advance!

Zigbee devices can only be paired to a single hub/coordinator at a time. you would need to remove them from the M100 hub and then pair them with a Zigbee coordinator that is set up with your HA instance.

Thanks for your answer. I feared this would be necessary.
My intend is to use the aqara zigbee ecosystem within HA over the aqara hub without having to pull them out of aqara (i.e. “sharing”). All devices are already paired there. I have hoped for something equivalent to the matter-server like a zigbee-server that could communicate with the hub.

You cannot share a device in zigbee. A device must only be paired to a single coordinator at any point in time.

Maybe I was not clear. I’m looking for a solution that exposes the zigbee device from the aqara ecosystem to HA. I do have a Homee-Smarthome Hub to which zigbee devices are paired. By using the Homee-Integration within HA I can see and control those devices while they keep being paired to Homee.

Then pair them to the Homee hub & integrate them that way I guess.

The whole point of HA is that you don’t need a bunch of hubs, especially ones which come with manufacturer restrictions.

Makes no sense to have 3 separate ecosystems (HA, Aqara & Homee) when you can just use one

Yes, I’d like to. But as aqara doesn’t seem to follow the zigbee standard quite well and some functions are not available via generic zigbee, homee refused to explicitly support aqara for now. For maximum compatibility and functionality I bought the aqara hub for cheap.

My Idea is to have the devices in their native environment and connect and automate functionality within HA.

Do you have any examples?

The Aqara devices that I have function well with ZHA and we already have a custom quirk for the recently released FP300.

Some time ago I tried the aqara cube with homee. Not all gestures where available and sensitivity was not great.

Homee is not ZHA though. Your experience with Home Assistant will likely be different.

I just wanted to let you know, that the aqara hub is able to expose connected aqara zigbee devices as Matter devices to HA. I just added an aqara mini switch (zigbee only) to the aqara app and it is visible within the HA Matter-Integration:

I learned that aqara is working to make “older” zigbee devices available over matter. So my issue with the aqara cube might solve itself by waiting and function as I initially assumed:
