I just received an interesting link to a presentation in Hamburg at the CCC congress
Hajo (BSH appliances) and Severin (Miele) have done some reverse engineering to establish a communication with the proprietary interface.
I have just ordered some parts to build the interface based on a ESP32-C3 and an optical sensor.
Has anybody started as well?

Yes, already connected an ESP32-C3 with SFH7250 to my Miele W3164 111 Edition.
Unfortunately the Software ID is 2895.
The control panel is “EDPL 151-B” which I’ve bought from Ebay today.
Seems to be a hard way to go.
I have received 2 diodes SFH7250 , but they are way smaller than expected 
Will be my 1st smd experience.
Do you have some pictures of your electrical circuit?
